Terry Roe

DISTRICT 12

House Challenger

Terry grew up in the East Valley after his family moved from Michigan to Arizona in 1965. He has been an Arizona resident ever since, living in both Chandler and Gilbert. Terry graduated from Gilbert High School and attended Mesa Community College.

Dedicated to Public Safety
Serving the community was always a high priority for Terry, and in 1987, he started his career in law enforcement, graduating from the Phoenix Regional Police Academy. Terry loved being a police officer; it was a fulfilling career that allowed him to help those in need.

Over his 20-year career as a peace officer, he worked in the DARE unit, robbery detail, the auto theft and burglary unit, and an assignment with the Center Against Family Violence. Getting to help women and children as part of the Center Against Family Violence was a rewarding experience for Terry and is one of the many reasons he looks back on his career in law enforcement with great fondness and appreciation.

Serving our Community
After retiring from law enforcement, Terry continued to serve his community. He has served as a Board Member for both Kiwanis Club and the Salvation Army Chandler Corps. Utilizing his skills in law enforcement, Terry also served as the former chair of the Phoenix Silent Witness Program Board.

Terry’s commitment to service motivated him to run for the Chandler City Council and he’s served in that capacity since 2015. On the Council, Terry has made economic growth and development a top priority. Terry has a sincere respect for the entrepreneurs and small business owners who pour their heart and capital into a business to make a living for themselves and create jobs for others. This commitment to business development and investment has helped make Chandler one of Arizona’s best-run cities, and one of Arizona’s best cities to live.

Securing Arizona’s Future
Terry’s success on Chandler Council has inspired him to run for the State Legislature. As a lawmaker, Terry plans to build upon Arizona’s success as a business-friendly state that attracts job creators and new businesses.

With grandchildren in the Gilbert School System, Terry understands firsthand that we need to provide Arizona children the best educational opportunities. All of our economic growth and development falls short without an educated workforce, and Terry is committed to improving our education system across the board.

We also need to keep our kids and communities safe. Terry’s background in law enforcement provides a valuable perspective on how we can provide the best training and resources to our police officers and build trust within the community.

A longtime resident of LD 12, Terry lives in West Chandler with Cheryl, his wife of 41 years. Terry spends his time doing home improvement projects with Cheryl or rooting for the Arizona Cardinals… as long as they aren’t playing the Packers!
